Compassion for Deformed Christians

Robin Schenck

I had this dream about a week or two before receiving some counseling requests from some very confused Christians:

A friend of mine whose name is Christina, who lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, had two twin boy babies. One was born normal and the other was born extremely deformed and bloody, so deformed that people described him as a monster (which in reality is the colloquial term doctors use to describe extremely deformed newborns and fetuses). Someone was telling me about these babies. Then suddenly I was riding in a car with my mother and sister. I was in the back seat of the car as we rode on a country road in the hill country of New Jersey in front of where I used to go to church. I was holding the deformed baby boy. He was very deformed indeed and very bloody looking, twisted and looking very much like a bloody lump of bread dough, weighing probably 12 pounds. I held him in my lap against my body, wondering at how deformed he was. It was a wonder he was alive at all. I never saw the other normal baby boy. My impression also in the dream was that this one may not live much longer.

David: Christina represents Christianity and the babies represent their wide range of fruit. We have pity upon the deformed child because it can't help itself and so it is with many of these misfits who come to us. They need our help and care. Being in front of the Church means this will be more prevalent in their future. We will need to be better able by the grace of the latter rain to deal with them.

If there is the slightest amount of life in these brethren we would not want to discourage it. {Isa.42:3} A bruised reed will he not break, and a dimly burning wick will he not quench: he will bring forth justice in truth. {4} He will not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set justice in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his law. At the same time the willfully disobedient and justifiers of self must have correction.
